Virginia Reunion Rally 2018
There’s nothing like a Fantasy Reunion Rally! It’s a time when Fantasy gives back to our most cherished guests – with games, food, tours and comradery! Everyone is welcome at a Reunion Rally – Fantasy travelers from previous tours and even future tours, not to mention our staff and Ambassadors!
The 2018 Reunion Rally will be held April 12 through 17 and Fantasy has selected Bethpage RV Resort in Urbanna, Virginia as Rally Central. For the third time, it was recently selected by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds as the “National RV Park of the Year.” The 700 full hook-up sites, complete with freshwater lake, a huge water park and other amenities are located along the beautiful Rappahannock River near Chesapeake Bay.
Urbanna is a charming historic Colonial port town off the main roads. It’s home to Virginia’s Official Oyster Festival and claims that it has more boats than residents. From this small town, tons of tobacco were once loaded into ships to sail to Europe. In the eighteenth century, local physician John Mitchell produced the first comprehensive map of this area of the country and it became widely used as a reference of land boundaries for legal and diplomatic purposes, including the Treaty of Paris. The map is on display at the local visitors’ center.
Back at the campground, the fun starts with an orientation and introductions at Fantasy’s Get Acquainted Social where we just may find friends and tour companions from previous Fantasy tours! The following day, all Rally guests are invited on a guided bus tour of this incredible historic area. We step back in time at Colonial Williamsburg – 301 acres with dozens of original and lovingly reconstructed buildings depicting life in the colonies. The village takes us back in time to America’s beginnings with live reenactments of typical life during the eighteenth century.
Our tour continues as we travel the Colonial Parkway, a 23-mile scenic roadway to the Yorktown Battlefield, site of the last major battle of the Revolutionary War. It was here in 1781 that George Washington and American and French forces attacked the British army. Their surrender followed, ending the American Revolution. Next, we continue to relive Colonial days with a delicious tavern lunch, and that evening local dinner theater entertainment.
It’s fun and games at the RV Park the following day when we participate in Fantasy’s own miniature golf tournament. Chesapeake Bay is famous for a variety of seafood, and we’ll enjoy a delicious Chesapeake style lunch prior to the Rally craft and hobby show. Next, there are prizes galore at our charity auction, where all proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We’ll hear lots of stories, followed by our very own Colonial costume party – be sure to pack your wigs and pilgrim shoes!
After a Rally Riverman’s Breakfast the following morning, we relax at the Park and watch some entertaining and informative travelogues on the wide variety of Fantasy tours taking place around the world with a few fantastic door prizes thrown in. Fantasy WagonMasters offer seminars on many of these trips, and it’s our chance to ask questions and get a real feel for upcoming adventures.
That afternoon, we board a fully restored Chesapeake Bay Deadrise boat (used by local rivermen for oystering) and cruise along the Rappahannock River. Upon our return, it’s I Scream for Ice Cream at the Fantasy ice cream social. We spend the evening sharing conversation, snacks, beverages and prizes with fellow Rally goers while playing Fantasy Bingo.
The next morning, join fellow Fantasy guests for an informative RV Maintenance seminar – be sure to bring lots of questions. The party continues today with snacks and treats, more travelogues and door prizes galore! That afternoon, it’s the Fantasy’s Got Talent show. Participation is necessary – and who would know just how much talent can be found among Fantasy travelers? After a pre-dinner social, we revel in our Farewell to the “Rivah” Dinner. This is always a special time at Reunion Rallies because it’s when the Fantasy staff recognizes past guests and presents Frequent Traveler Awards to many of them. The night is still young, and the revelry continues with dancing to the music of the 50s’, 60s’ and 70s’.
On our final morning, we enjoy another Fantasy tradition – our Goodbye Continental Breakfast prepared by the staff. Our Reunion Rally may have come to a close, but our friendships will remain.
